I am a finance professional with over 2 years of experience. I built my foundations as an intern in financial controlling, and further developed my skills in end-to-end accounting, including AP, AR, GL, while providing accounting services for multiple clients across the IT sector. I am currently pursuing the ACCA qualification and looking to strengthen my expertise across corporate finance and controlling.

About me

I am a finance professional with over two years of experience. My first steps were in financial controlling at Arla Foods in Gdańsk, where I started as an intern. What was originally a 3-month summer internship turned into a longer role. I was not only getting to know corporate finance, but also gradually became greater support for senior controllers. After a year, I decided I wanted to progress so that one day I could return to controlling with the solid fundamentals – and despite how much I liked my job, I decided to move on to gain experience in full-cycle accounting.

In the meantime, I undertook postgraduate ACCA studies in Warsaw, granting exemptions from 9 ACCA exams. I completed the studies with a “good” grade, and although the programme was very demanding, I proudly passed all of my exams on the first attempt.

In my work as an accountant, I learned the importance of all the processes in our profession, from invoice verification to posting journal vouchers at month-end. Half a year after starting as an accountant, the situation required me to take on greater responsibility. I became the main support to the Chief Accountant across multiple companies. I took over the majority of processes for several clients, becoming responsible for communicating with stakeholders, verifying supporting documents, and conducting accounting operations.

I am continuously seeking ways to develop my expertise – soon I am planning to sit for my next ACCA exam (Strategic Business Reporting, now independently of any postgraduate courses) – and I am looking for new career opportunities.

End-to-end accounting & Month-End Closing

In my work, I participated fully in financial operations across multiple clients from the IT sector. It allowed me not only to get to know their business structure in depth – ensuring I was aware of all their business activities and providing me with all the information needed for appropriate postings – but also gave me a big-picture view of the whole process.

  • Conducted operations on supporting documents, from invoice verification, through their processing and posting, and ending with account reconciliations and reporting.
  • Communicated with stakeholders regarding documentation, discussing discrepancies, variances, and resolving queries. Provided clients with information on their operations, explained the processes, and worked with them to ensure satisfying results.
  • Verified and reconciled bank statements, recording approx. 600 transactions per month. Ensured proper account posting and analytics, and matched them with supporting documents. Investigated missing transactions and invoices that had not been delivered.
  • Conducted month-end close under limited supervision of the Head Accountant of the team. End-to-end, recorded transactions and made postings. Prepared journal vouchers, recorded social security payments and booked payroll, along with detailed analytics of workers’ departments to allocate costs on a deeper level. Verified documents provided by the client regarding the departments and investigated discrepancies. Suggested solutions to standardize the reporting. Recorded fixed assets depreciation, prepayments, accruals, and GL account reconciliations.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

Working at a company providing accounting services I was exposed to a high volume of supporting documents provided by a variety of clients. Starting my work in the middle of 2025 I was able to see two pictures: Polish accounting before the e-Invoicing system, and after its introduction at the beginning of 2026.

  • Obtained, verified, processed, and posted approx. 650 invoices monthly for multiple clients. For one company, I manually entered approx. 150 invoices each period, ensuring the correctness of all details, especially vendor data, bank account numbers, and foreign currency amounts. Executed this in a time-sensitive manner, allowing the client to proceed with payments promptly upon my input.
  • Reviewed outstanding sales invoices and provided stakeholders with information on overdue payments. Verified records for sales invoices under long-term contracts issued by the sales department to ensure appropriate revenue recognition and recording in the books.

Financial Reporting & Client Assistance

Being an accountant for a Norwegian subsidiary based in Poland, I once again experienced working in an international corporate setup. I was assigned a process in which I prepared monthly financial reports across non-standard reporting cycles. The reporting comprised P&L and Balance Sheet statements tailored to the client’s needs as directed by their financial controlling team.

  • Optimized the reporting, decreasing the preparation time by 60% (from approx. 5 hours to 2 hours monthly), using improved Excel formulas and standardizing the preparation.
  • Adjusted the reporting mid-year for an organizational transformation within the company, ensuring clarity and consistency across all reporting periods.
  • Communicated with the client to ensure data correctness for report-specific postings. Verified the data provided on departmental expenses, investigated discrepancies in mappings provided across multiple periods, and cleared the data. Assisted the Norwegian accounting team in report analysis — prepared additional supporting documentation for their better understanding and provided explanations on the mechanics used in the reporting.

Autonomy & Ownership

My steep learning curve allowed me to take on greater responsibility when it became necessary. Due to staffing issues that arose, I had to quickly adapt to be able to fill in for my senior colleague. While it proved to be a demanding process, I managed to achieve excellent results. It strengthened my belief that when given autonomy in my work, I become even more efficient. This experience was also a valuable lesson when transferring my own responsibilities during offboarding.

  • Took over processes that required coverage. Analysed, verified, and shadowed the work done in months prior in order to fulfill tasks that lacked instructions. Handled communication with clients and investigated activities that remained work-in-progress. Ensured clients were kept informed, while keeping myself fully updated.
  • Prepared detailed task instructions for future reference. Described key accounting events, arrangements, and principles to improve information flow.
  • Towards the end of my employment, held training sessions with colleagues to showcase the processes and provide them with training. Spread the topics across multiple meetings to ensure a reasonable learning pace. Carefully explained the processes in a friendly manner to keep the space open for questions and mistakes. Supported and encouraged colleagues to complete their tasks and guided them through the process.

Production Site Reporting & KPI tracking

As an intern I was to assist senior controllers in their daily tasks, taking over some of the processes. Being an intern, I had no specific market assigned, which allowed me to see multiple perspectives across Scandinavia, the United Kingdom and Germany. I provided reporting to various stakeholders, while keeping the communication clear and open.

  • Prepared weekly logistics cost reporting for multiple production sites. Requested data from site managers, communicated regarding deadlines to ensure timely delivery of the reporting. Analysed and investigated variances in order to ensure inclusion of the correct data.
  • Verified cost levels against the forecasts, and verified the cause of the variances. Provided the stakeholders with information.
  • Provided reports on production levels and held meetings with production site managers as a substitute for a senior controller, to discuss the work in progress and production scrapping.
  • Issued invoices to the vendors based on the material usage and reporting.

Month-End Close

Being a trainee I was not only able to gain the knowledge in my field, but I also could contribute to the team in the month-end close, which was extremely time-sensitive. Operating across both production and logistics teams, I was a valuable support.

  • Prepared for the month-end close via checking the supporting documentation beforehand, informing the senior controllers to be better informed before the processes begin.
  • Identified journal voucher and accrual requirements, and prepared the journal vouchers in accordance with the accounting standards. Assisted in audit requests via providing supporting documentation and explanation for the records later on.

Automation Assistance

I was assigned multiple processes by a senior controller responsible for automation across logistics controlling. The processes involved direct communication with the developer of internal tools, and the IT teams.

  • Verified the Power BI data against the internal engines to ensure proper visualisation and translation of data. Identified missing master data and prepared the input to provide to the developer.
  • Prepared working files identifying data issues across markets and informed the market representatives of the necessity of data filling.
  • Participated in meetings across Arla international teams to discuss solutions improving the process and workflow, as well as involving problem identification.
